STC Management Day Talk and the role of User Docs

Below is the presentation I gave at STC (Society for Technical Communication) Management Day in Toronto last week. Technical communications as a field is moving out of just documentation into more value-added activities such as facilitating shared understanding and agreement between diverse groups. As well, getting involved early to reduce documentation required by helping ensure software aligns with users needs.
